Description

A simple sourdough bread recipe that yields a crusty loaf with a soft interior.


Ingredients

  • 500g bread flour
  • 350ml water
  • 100g sourdough starter
  • 10g salt

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour and water in a bowl until no dry flour remains.
  2. Add the sourdough starter and salt, and mix until well combined.
  3. Cover the bowl and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Stretch and fold the dough every 30 minutes for 3 hours.
  5. Shape the dough and place it in a proofing basket.
  6. Let it proof for 2-4 hours at room temperature or overnight in the fridge.
  7. Preheat the oven to 230°C (450°F) with a Dutch oven inside.
  8. Carefully transfer the dough to the Dutch oven and score the top.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes with the lid on, then 15 minutes with the lid off.
  10. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

  • Use a mature sourdough starter for best results.
  • Adjust water based on flour absorption.
