Description
Fluffy and golden brown, these classic waffles are perfect for breakfast or brunch. Serve them with your favorite toppings like syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; it’s okay if there are a few lumps.
- Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or brush with oil.
- Pour the appropriate amount of batter onto the preheated waffle iron (usually about 1/2 to 3/4 cup, depending on your iron). Close the lid and cook until golden brown, usually about 5 minutes.
- Carefully remove the waffle and repeat with the remaining batter.
- Serve warm with desired toppings.
Notes
- For extra fluffy waffles, separate the eggs and beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold them into the batter just before cooking.
- You can add chocolate chips, blueberries, or nuts directly into the batter for variation.
