Waffle Recipe: Perfectly Crispy Classic Waffles for Brunch

  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

This classic waffle recipe yields light and crispy waffles that are perfect for breakfast or brunch. Serve them with your favorite toppings for a delicious treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and then mix in the milk, oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Grease the waffle iron lightly if needed and pour the recommended amount of batter onto the center of the preheated waffle iron.
  6. Close the lid and cook according to your waffle iron’s instructions, usually for about 3-5 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Carefully remove the waffle and serve immediately or keep warm in a low oven while you cook the remaining waffles.

Notes

  • For extra fluffy waffles, separate the egg whites and yolks. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and gently fold them into the batter at the end.
  • Feel free to add mix-ins like chocolate chips, blueberries, or nuts to the batter before cooking.
  • Top with syrup, whipped cream, fresh fruit, or any toppings of your choice.
