Ingredients

- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in warm water and let sit for 5 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients to form a soft dough.
- Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
- Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness and cut into squares.
- Heat oil to 375°F and fry beignets for 2 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar.
