Ingredients

  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons meringue powder
  • 6 tablespoons water
  • Food coloring (red, pink)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Add egg, vanilla, and almond extract to the butter mixture.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture and mix until combined.
  6. Roll dough on a floured surface and cut into heart shapes.
  7. Bake cookies for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Let cookies cool completely.
  9. In a bowl, combine powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water to make royal icing.
  10. Add food coloring to the icing and decorate cooled cookies.
