Description
This classic tiramisu recipe features layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and a rich mascarpone cream, making it a delightful Italian dessert that’s perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
- 1 1/4 cups mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 1/2 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
- 24 ladyfingers
- Cocoa powder for dusting
- Dark chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until well blended. Add milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
- In a large bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form. In another bowl, combine cooled egg mixture with mascarpone cheese until smooth. Gently fold in whipped cream until fully incorporated.
- In a shallow dish, combine coffee and coffee liqueur (if using). Quickly dip ladyfingers into the coffee mixture, making sure not to soak them.
- In a 9×13 inch dish, layer half of the dipped ladyfingers, followed by half of the mascarpone mixture. Repeat layers, finishing with mascarpone on top.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings, if desired.
Notes
- For a stronger coffee flavor, increase the amount of coffee used.
- You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar to the mascarpone mixture.
- Tiramisu can be made a day in advance for better flavor development.
