Description

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp Chinese rice wine (or dry sherry)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp five-spice powder
  • 1/2 tsp red food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix all marinade ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Add chicken and coat evenly. Marinate for at least 2 hours (overnight is best).
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Place chicken on a wire rack over a baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes, then brush with reserved marinade.
  6. Broil for 3-5 minutes until caramelized.
  7. Let rest 5 minutes before slicing.
