A delicious and easy-to-make Chinese-style BBQ chicken dish with a sweet and savory glaze.
Ingredients

- 2 lbs boneless chicken thighs or breasts
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp Chinese rice wine (or dry sherry)
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp five-spice powder
- 1/2 tsp red food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Mix all marinade ingredients in a bowl.
- Add chicken and coat evenly. Marinate for at least 2 hours (overnight is best).
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place chicken on a wire rack over a baking sheet.
- Bake for 25 minutes, then brush with reserved marinade.
- Broil for 3-5 minutes until caramelized.
- Let rest 5 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For authentic flavor, use pork instead of chicken
- Adjust sweetness by reducing honey if needed
- Use leftovers in fried rice or noodle dishes
