A delicious strawberry upside down cake with caramelized strawberries on top.
Ingredients

- 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Mix melted butter and brown sugar in the pan. Spread evenly.
- Arrange strawberry slices over the sugar mixture.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Beat softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
- Alternate adding flour mixture and milk, mixing until smooth.
- Pour batter over strawberries. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
- Cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a plate.
Notes
- Use ripe strawberries for best flavor.
- Let cake cool slightly before inverting to prevent sticking.
