Description

This light and airy mint chocolate mousse is the perfect dessert to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. With a rich chocolate flavor and a refreshing hint of mint, it’s a festive treat for any party!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 3 large eggs, separated
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Green food coloring (optional)
  • Mint leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the sugar and continue whipping until stiff peaks form. Stir in the peppermint extract and a few drops of green food coloring if desired.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg whites and salt until soft peaks form. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the chocolate mixture until just combined.
  4. Fold in the whipped cream mixture gently until no white streaks remain.
  5. Spoon the mousse into serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
  6. Garnish with mint leaves before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet.
