- 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (240ml) water, lukewarm
- 1/2 cup (120g) active sourdough starter
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the lukewarm water with the active sourdough starter until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
- After resting, knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 4 to 6 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, gently deflate the dough and shape it into a round loaf.
- Place the shaped loaf onto a floured surface, cover it, and let it rest for another 1 to 2 hours.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) with a Dutch oven inside.
- Carefully transfer the loaf into the hot Dutch oven, cover it with the lid, and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Cool the bread on a wire rack before slicing.
