  • 1 cup (240ml) water, lukewarm
  • 1/2 cup (120g) active sourdough starter
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix the lukewarm water with the active sourdough starter until well combined.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
  5. After resting, knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  6. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 4 to 6 hours, or until doubled in size.
  7. Once risen, gently deflate the dough and shape it into a round loaf.
  8. Place the shaped loaf onto a floured surface, cover it, and let it rest for another 1 to 2 hours.
  9. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) with a Dutch oven inside.
  10. Carefully transfer the loaf into the hot Dutch oven, cover it with the lid, and bake for 30 minutes.
  11. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  12. Cool the bread on a wire rack before slicing.
