Ingredients

  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1/2 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Optional toppings: pickles, cheese, or coleslaw

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the diced onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are soft.
  3. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Simmer the mixture for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. While the mixture simmers, toast the hamburger buns if desired.
  6. Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture onto the bottom half of each bun. Top with optional toppings and cover with the top half of the bun.
