- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1/2 bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
- Optional toppings: pickles, cheese, or coleslaw
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add the diced onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are soft.
- Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Simmer the mixture for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- While the mixture simmers, toast the hamburger buns if desired.
- Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture onto the bottom half of each bun. Top with optional toppings and cover with the top half of the bun.
- Serve immediately.
