Ingredients

  • 2 round cake layers (8-inch and 6-inch)
  • 4 cups buttercream frosting
  • Fondant for decoration
  • Graduation cap topper
  • Edible glitter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bake the 8-inch and 6-inch cake layers according to recipe.
  3. Let the cakes cool completely.
  4. Level the cakes with a knife.
  5. Place the 8-inch layer on a cake board.
  6. Spread a layer of buttercream frosting on top of the 8-inch cake.
  7. Stack the 6-inch cake on top of the 8-inch cake.
  8. Frost the entire cake with buttercream.
  9. Cover the cake with fondant, smoothing it down.
  10. Add graduation cap topper and any additional decorations.
