Description

Traditional Kings Cake recipe for Epiphany celebration.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 100g sugar
  • 200ml milk
  • 100g butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 30g fresh yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 orange zest
  • 1 egg for egg wash

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk and dissolve the yeast in it.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Add melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and orange zest to the flour mixture.
  4. Pour the milk mixture and knead until smooth.
  5. Let the dough rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
  6. Shape the dough into a ring and place it on a baking tray.
  7. Let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  9. Brush the dough with egg wash.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

  • Decorate with dried fruits if desired.
