- 4 cups bread cubes (stale or toasted)
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp cloves
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
- Place bread cubes in the prepared dish.
- In a bowl, whisk pumpkin puree, milk, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
- Pour mixture over bread. Press bread down to soak up liquid.
- Add raisins (if using) and let sit for 10 minutes.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until set and golden.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Use day-old or slightly dried bread for best texture.
- Adjust spices to taste.
- Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
