  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

A delicious pulled pork sandwich made with tender, juicy pork shoulder, seasoned with a flavorful rub and slow-cooked to perfection. Serve it with your favorite barbecue sauce and coleslaw for a classic meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 lbs pork shoulder
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 6 hamburger buns
  • Coleslaw (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it is well coated.
  4. Place the pork shoulder in a roasting pan and cover it with aluminum foil.
  5. Cook in the preheated oven for about 6-8 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  6. Once cooked, remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  7. Shred the pork using two forks, discarding any excess fat.
  8. Mix the shredded pork with barbecue sauce to taste.
  9. Serve the pulled pork on hamburger buns topped with coleslaw, if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the pork shoulder in the spice rub overnight.
  • You can also cook the pork shoulder in a slow cooker on low for 8-10 hours.
  • Feel free to customize the barbecue sauce to your liking.
