- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add applesauce, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- You can dust the cake with powdered sugar before serving.
- For extra flavor, add 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter.
