Description

A classic peach cobbler recipe featuring juicy peaches and a buttery biscuit topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Toss to coat the peaches and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining sugar, and baking powder.
  4. Add the milk and melted butter to the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
  5. Pour the peach mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, then drop spoonfuls of the biscuit batter over the top of the peaches.
  6. Sprinkle with additional cinnamon and nutmeg if using.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peaches are bubbling.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • You can use canned peaches if fresh are not available; just reduce the sugar since canned peaches are often syrupy.
  • For a twist, add blueberries or blackberries to the peach filling.
