Description
A classic peach cobbler recipe featuring juicy peaches and a buttery biscuit topping.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Toss to coat the peaches and set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining sugar, and baking powder.
- Add the milk and melted butter to the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
- Pour the peach mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, then drop spoonfuls of the biscuit batter over the top of the peaches.
- Sprinkle with additional cinnamon and nutmeg if using.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peaches are bubbling.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- You can use canned peaches if fresh are not available; just reduce the sugar since canned peaches are often syrupy.
- For a twist, add blueberries or blackberries to the peach filling.
