Description
A classic, comforting dessert featuring sweet peaches enveloped in a buttery, flaky crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups fresh peaches, sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Mix well and set aside to marinate for 15 minutes.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining 1/2 cup of sugar.
- Slowly add milk to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Pour the melted butter into a 9×13 inch baking dish. Pour the batter over the melted butter, but do not stir.
- Spoon the peach mixture over the batter, ensuring even distribution of peaches.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- For best flavor, use ripe peaches.
- You can substitute fresh peaches with frozen peaches; just thaw and drain excess liquid before use.
- Feel free to add a pinch of nutmeg for additional warmth in flavor.
