  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup vodka
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the tomato sauce and vodka, stirring to combine. Let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes until slightly reduced.
  5. Reduce the heat and add the heavy cream, stirring until the sauce is creamy and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce, tossing to coat evenly. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and combined.
