- 12 oz penne pasta
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup vodka
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the tomato sauce and vodka, stirring to combine. Let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes until slightly reduced.
- Reduce the heat and add the heavy cream, stirring until the sauce is creamy and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the cooked pasta to the sauce, tossing to coat evenly. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and combined.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil.
