- 1 loaf of French bread, cut into cubes
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup maple syrup (for serving)
- Powdered sugar (for serving)
- Fresh berries (for serving, optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Add the bread cubes to the egg mixture, gently folding until all the bread is coated. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 4 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the plastic wrap from the baking dish.
- Bake the French toast bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Drizzle with maple syrup and dust with powdered sugar. Top with fresh berries if desired.
