  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine orange juice, orange zest, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, cornstarch, and milk until smooth.
  3. Slowly pour the warm orange mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to temper the eggs.
  4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract until well combined.
  6. Pour the mixture into dessert cups and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until set.
  7. Serve chilled with additional orange zest on top for garnish.

Notes

  • For a more intense orange flavor, use blood oranges or add a splash of orange liqueur.
