Description
A perfectly seared New York Strip Steak, seasoned simply with salt and pepper, allowing the rich flavors of the beef to shine.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 New York Strip steaks, about 1-inch thick
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- Fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme), for garnish
Instructions
- Remove the steaks from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat your grill or a heavy skillet (cast iron works best) over medium-high heat.
- Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Add the olive oil to the skillet or grill. Once hot, place the steaks in the pan.
- Cook the steaks for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them, until a nice crust forms.
- Flip the steaks and add the butter and crushed garlic to the pan.
- Baste the steaks with the melted butter using a spoon for about 2-3 more minutes, or until they reach your desired doneness (130°F for medium-rare).
- Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
- Garnish with fresh herbs and serve.
Notes
- For the best flavor, use high-quality steaks.
- Allowing the steak to rest after cooking helps retain juices.
- Adjust cooking time based on steak thickness and desired doneness.
