New York Strip: Perfectly Seared Steak with Rich Flavor

  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

A perfectly seared New York Strip Steak, seasoned simply with salt and pepper, allowing the rich flavors of the beef to shine.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 New York Strip steaks, about 1-inch thick
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • Fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme), for garnish

Instructions

  1. Remove the steaks from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat your grill or a heavy skillet (cast iron works best) over medium-high heat.
  3. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  4. Add the olive oil to the skillet or grill. Once hot, place the steaks in the pan.
  5. Cook the steaks for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them, until a nice crust forms.
  6. Flip the steaks and add the butter and crushed garlic to the pan.
  7. Baste the steaks with the melted butter using a spoon for about 2-3 more minutes, or until they reach your desired doneness (130°F for medium-rare).
  8. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
  9. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve.

Notes

  • For the best flavor, use high-quality steaks.
  • Allowing the steak to rest after cooking helps retain juices.
  • Adjust cooking time based on steak thickness and desired doneness.
