Description
Soft pretzels with a cheesy mozzarella filling, perfect for a snack or appetizer.
Ingredients

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Coarse salt for topping
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Mix flour and salt in a bowl. Add yeast mixture and melted butter. Knead into a smooth dough.
- Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Divide dough into 8 pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and flatten.
- Place mozzarella in the center of each rope. Seal and roll into a pretzel shape.
- Boil water with baking soda. Dip each pretzel for 30 seconds.
- Place on a baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with salt.
- Bake at 425°F for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Let dough rise in a warm place for best results.
- Use fresh mozzarella for better melting.
- Work quickly when shaping to prevent cheese from leaking.
