- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup chocolate chips or any add-ins of choice (nuts, dried fruit, etc.)
- Sprinkles or edible decorations (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in the vanilla extract and the egg, beating until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips or other add-ins of your choice.
- Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- If desired, top each cookie with sprinkles or edible decorations.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a fun twist, try adding different flavored extracts like almond or lemon.
- These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
