Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup blackberry puree
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
- Beat butter until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
- Alternate adding flour mixture and buttermilk, starting and ending with flour.
- Fold in blackberry puree and vanilla extract.
- Pour batter into the pan and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool before serving.
Notes
- Use fresh blackberries for best flavor.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.
