Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup grated Gruyère cheese
Instructions
- Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Shape into 1-inch meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet and brown meatballs on all sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté onions until caramelized.
- Add garlic and flour, stirring for 1 minute.
- Pour in beef broth and bring to a simmer.
- Return meatballs to the skillet and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Sprinkle cheese on top before serving.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef for less grease.
- Caramelize onions slowly for best flavor.
- Serve with crusty bread.
