Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup grated Gruyère cheese

Instructions

  1. Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Shape into 1-inch meatballs.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet and brown meatballs on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté onions until caramelized.
  5. Add garlic and flour, stirring for 1 minute.
  6. Pour in beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  7. Return meatballs to the skillet and simmer for 15 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle cheese on top before serving.
