Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 4 slices French bread
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese

Instructions

  1. Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Form meat mixture into 1-inch balls.
  3. Heat olive oil in a pan and brown meatballs on all sides. Set aside.
  4. In the same pan, melt butter and cook onions until caramelized.
  5. Add wine and beef broth. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Toast French bread slices.
  7. Ladle soup into bowls, top with bread and Gruyère.
  8. Broil until cheese melts.
  9. Serve meatballs alongside soup.
