A hearty meatball dinner paired with rich French onion soup.
Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 large onions, thinly sliced
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 1 tbsp butter
- 4 slices French bread
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
Instructions
- Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Form meat mixture into 1-inch balls.
- Heat olive oil in a pan and brown meatballs on all sides. Set aside.
- In the same pan, melt butter and cook onions until caramelized.
- Add wine and beef broth. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- Toast French bread slices.
- Ladle soup into bowls, top with bread and Gruyère.
- Broil until cheese melts.
- Serve meatballs alongside soup.
Notes
- Use fresh onions for best flavor.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Meatballs can be baked instead of pan-fried.
