Ingredients

  • 500g beef (chuck or brisket), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, sliced
  • 1 potato, diced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 4 cups water or beef broth
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a pot, brown the beef over medium heat.
  2. Add onion, garlic, carrot, and potato. Stir-fry for 2 minutes.
  3. Pour in soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, and black pepper. Mix well.
  4. Add water or beef broth. Bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1.5 hours until beef is tender.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Use a pressure cooker to reduce cooking time to 30 minutes.
  • Adjust soy sauce and sugar to taste.
