  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for icing)
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In another bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Flatten each ball with a glass.
  8. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven.
  9. Let cool on wire racks.
  10. In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla for icing.
  11. Add food coloring if desired and decorate cooled cookies.
