  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 lemon, quartered
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 cups chicken or turkey broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove giblets and neck from the turkey cavity.
  3. Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  4. Mix softened butter with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
  5. Rub the butter mixture evenly over the turkey, including under the skin.
  6. Stuff the cavity with lemon, onion, and garlic.
  7. Place the turkey breast-side up on a roasting rack in a roasting pan.
  8. Pour broth into the bottom of the pan.
  9. Roast for about 3 to 3.5 hours, basting every 30 minutes.
  10. Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer; it should reach 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
  11. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
