Description

Learn how to make delicious beef shawarma at home with this easy recipe. Perfectly spiced and juicy, this dish is great for wraps, bowls, or simply served with rice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Pita bread or flatbreads for serving
  • Toppings: sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, tahini sauce, and pickles

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the sliced beef, olive oil, garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, allspice, salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Mix well to ensure the beef is evenly coated.
  2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for deeper flavor.
  3. Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a grill, make sure it’s well-oiled to prevent sticking.
  4. Cook the marinated beef slices in batches for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
  5. Remove from heat and let the beef rest for a few minutes before slicing it into smaller pieces if desired.
  6. Serve the beef shawarma in pita bread or flatbreads with your choice of toppings like cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, tahini sauce, and pickles.
