- 8 cups cubed bread (stale or toasted)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp dried sage
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried rosemary
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add onion and celery, cook until softened (5-7 minutes).
- Stir in garlic, sage, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
- Place bread cubes in a large bowl. Pour the butter and vegetable mixture over the bread.
- Add broth gradually while mixing until moist but not soggy.
- Stir in parsley.
- Transfer to a greased baking dish. Cover with foil.
- Bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 15 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Use stale or toasted bread for better texture.
- Adjust broth for desired moisture level.
- Add cooked sausage or dried fruit for variations.
