Homemade Potato Chips: The Perfect Crunch in 30 Minutes

  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

Crispy, golden, and perfectly seasoned, these homemade potato chips are easy to make and a delight to eat. Perfect for snacking or serving at parties!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional seasonings (e.g., paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, or your favorite spice blend)

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the potatoes. Using a mandoline or sharp knife, slice the potatoes into thin, even rounds (about 1/16 inch thick).
  2. Soak the potato slices in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This helps to make the chips crispier.
  3. Drain the potato slices and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  4. In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Carefully add a few potato slices to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the slices for about 2-3 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  6. Using a slotted spoon, remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
  7. While the chips are still hot, sprinkle with salt and any additional seasonings you desire.
  8. Repeat the frying process with the remaining potato slices.
  9. Allow the chips to cool completely before serving. Enjoy your homemade potato chips!

Notes

  • For different flavors, try adding various seasonings after frying.
  • Store any leftover chips in an airtight container to keep them crispy.
