A hearty and flavorful ham bone soup that warms you up.
Ingredients

- 1 ham bone
- 8 cups water
- 2 cups diced vegetables (carrots, celery, onion)
- 2 cups diced potatoes
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the ham bone and water.
- Add the diced vegetables, potatoes, garlic, black pepper, bay leaf, and thyme.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours.
- Remove the ham bone and let it cool slightly.
- Shred the meat from the bone and return it to the soup.
- Season with salt to taste.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- This soup can be made in a slow cooker.
- Leftover ham can be added for extra flavor.
- Add beans for more protein and texture.
