- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup crispy fried onions, plus more for topping
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pot of boiling salted water, blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes until tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper.
- Add the blanched green beans to the soup mixture and stir until well combined. Fold in 1 cup of crispy fried onions.
- Transfer the green bean mixture to a greased 1 1/2-quart casserole dish and spread it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle additional crispy fried onions on top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the onions are golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a homemade version, you can make the cream of mushroom soup from scratch using fresh mushrooms.
- Feel free to add cooked bacon or sautéed mushrooms for extra flavor.
- This casserole can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
