- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced into strips
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cucumber, grated and drained
- 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 4 pita breads
- 1 red onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 tomato, sliced
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add chicken strips and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Prepare tzatziki sauce by combining Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, dill, lemon juice, minced garlic, and salt. Refrigerate.
- Grill or pan-fry chicken strips until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes per side.
- Grill red onion and bell pepper slices for 2-3 minutes until slightly charred.
- Warm pita bread on the grill or in a skillet for 1 minute per side.
- Assemble gyros by placing chicken, grilled veggies, and tomato slices on pita. Drizzle with tzatziki sauce.
- Fold and serve immediately.
Notes
- For best flavor, marinate chicken overnight.
- Use full-fat Greek yogurt for creamier tzatziki.
- Wrap gyros in foil for easy eating.
