Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Royal icing for decoration
  • Assorted candies for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Add molasses, egg, and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  6. Chill the dough for at least 1 hour.
  7. Roll out the dough and cut into tree shapes.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until firm.
  9. Let cool completely before decorating with royal icing and candies.
