  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

This classic French toast recipe is easy to make and perfect for breakfast or brunch. With golden-brown edges and a fluffy center, each slice is deliciously sweet and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 slices of bread (preferably thick-cut)
  • Butter or oil for frying
  • Maple syrup, for serving
  • Powdered sugar, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  2. Preheat a griddle or large skillet over medium heat and add a little butter or oil to coat the surface.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side. Let the excess drip off.
  4. Place the soaked bread onto the hot griddle or skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Remove the French toast from the pan and keep warm in the oven if necessary while you cook the remaining slices.
  6. Serve warm with maple syrup and a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use brioche or challah bread.
  • Add toppings like fresh fruit, whipped cream, or nuts for extra flavor and texture.
  • Make a larger batch by doubling the ingredients and cooking in batches.
