This overnight French toast casserole uses challah bread for a rich and indulgent breakfast.
Ingredients

- 1 loaf of challah bread, cubed
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- Powdered sugar for serving
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Place the cubed challah bread in the dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
- Pour the mixture over the bread, ensuring it is evenly coated.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- In the morning, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove the plastic wrap and drizzle maple syrup over the top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and set.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add chopped nuts or fruit.
- This can be made a day ahead for convenience.
