Ingredients

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. In a large oven-safe skillet, cook beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add butter and onions to the skillet. Cook until onions are soft and caramelized.
  4. Stir in rice, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Cover and bake for 25 minutes or until rice is tender.
  6. Remove from oven, sprinkle with cheese, and broil for 2-3 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
