- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
- 2 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 large onion, quartered
- 3 carrots, chopped
- 3 celery stalks, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F.
- Rinse turkey and pat dry with paper towels.
- Mix melted butter, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Brush butter mixture over the turkey, including under the skin.
- Place onion, carrots, and celery inside the turkey cavity.
- Place turkey on a rack in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the pan.
- Roast for 3-4 hours, basting every 30 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Let rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure proper cooking.
- Cover loosely with foil if the skin browns too quickly.
- Save pan drippings for gravy.
