Description
A simple and flavorful teriyaki steak recipe that’s quick to make. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or a weekend grill session.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) flank steak or sirloin
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- 2 tbsp water (optional, if using cornstarch)
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- Slice the steak thinly against the grain.
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger to make the marinade.
- Add the steak to the marinade and let it sit for at least 15 minutes (or up to 2 hours for more flavor).
- Heat oil in a pan or grill over medium-high heat.
- Cook the steak for 2-3 minutes per side until browned and cooked to your liking.
- If using cornstarch, mix it with water and stir into the leftover marinade. Cook in the pan until thickened, then pour over the steak.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
- Serve with rice or vegetables.
Notes
- For best results, marinate the steak longer for deeper flavor.
- You can also grill the steak instead of pan-frying.
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey.
