- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add onion and green bell pepper to the skillet. Cook until softened.
- Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Simmer the mixture for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve the Sloppy Joe mixture on hamburger buns.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- You can substitute ground turkey for ground beef.
