Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • ¼ cup sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon for coating
  • ½ cup dark chocolate, chopped
  • ½ cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Heat water, sugar, salt, and oil in a saucepan until boiling.
  2. Remove from heat, add flour, and stir until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla until well combined.
  4. Transfer dough to a piping bag with a star tip.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Pipe 4-inch strips of dough into the hot oil and fry until golden.
  7. Drain churros on paper towels, then roll in cinnamon sugar.
  8. For the sauce, heat cream until steaming, pour over chocolate, and stir until smooth.
  9. Serve churros warm with the chocolate sauce.

  • Use a candy thermometer for accurate oil temperature.
  • Pipe churros directly into the oil for best shape.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
