Ingredients

- 1 cup water
- 2 tbsp sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
- ¼ cup sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon for coating
- ½ cup dark chocolate, chopped
- ½ cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Heat water, sugar, salt, and oil in a saucepan until boiling.
- Remove from heat, add flour, and stir until smooth.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla until well combined.
- Transfer dough to a piping bag with a star tip.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Pipe 4-inch strips of dough into the hot oil and fry until golden.
- Drain churros on paper towels, then roll in cinnamon sugar.
- For the sauce, heat cream until steaming, pour over chocolate, and stir until smooth.
- Serve churros warm with the chocolate sauce.
Notes
- Use a candy thermometer for accurate oil temperature.
- Pipe churros directly into the oil for best shape.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
