Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, beans)
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water.
  2. In a pot, heat the oil and add cumin seeds.
  3. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add tomatoes and cook until soft.
  5. Add mixed vegetables and stir for a few minutes.
  6. Add the rinsed rice, water, garam masala, and salt.
  7. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cover.
  8. Cook for about 15 minutes or until rice is done.
  9. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
