  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, sliced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion, carrots, and celery. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Pour in chicken broth and water. Bring to a boil.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and milk to form a dough.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of dough into the boiling broth. Reduce heat to low.
  5. Add shredded chicken, thyme, and black pepper. Stir gently.
  6. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes until dumplings are cooked through.
  7. Serve hot.
