- 8 oz pasta (penne or fusilli)
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package instructions.
- In the last 3 minutes of cooking, add broccoli to the pot.
- Drain pasta and broccoli, reserving 1/4 cup of pasta water.
- Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add garlic and red pepper flakes, sauté for 30 seconds.
- Add drained pasta and broccoli to the pan. Toss with reserved pasta water.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese and season with salt and black pepper.
- Serve immediately.

- Use fresh broccoli for best texture.
- Add lemon zest for extra brightness.
- Substitute Parmesan with nutritional yeast for a vegan version.
