A rich and moist double chocolate banana cake that combines the sweetness of ripe bananas with deep cocoa flavor. Perfect for dessert or a sweet treat.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in mashed bananas and vanilla.
- Alternately add dry ingredients and buttermilk to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
