Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Your favorite toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, onions, etc.)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, salt, and sugar. In a separate bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix the yeast mixture into the dry ingredients and add olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a deep dish pizza pan with olive oil.
  5. Roll out the dough and press it into the prepared pan, covering the sides. Layer shredded mozzarella cheese on the bottom.
  6. Spread pizza sauce over the cheese, then add your favorite toppings. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  8. Allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust, pre-bake the crust for 10 minutes before adding toppings.
  • Feel free to customize toppings according to your preference.
