Description

A simple recipe for a tender and flavorful whole chicken cooked in a crockpot.


Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken (about 45 lbs)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 4 sprigs of fresh rosemary (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rub the chicken with olive oil.
  2. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  3. Place lemon halves and rosemary inside the cavity of the chicken.
  4. Place the chicken in the crockpot, breast side up.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.
  6. Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F.
  7. Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before carving.
